Audience: FaultFixers Admins. How to build your asset register. How best to use Assets. What details can be added to assets.

⚙️ What are assets?

Assets are typically high-value items across your business that have a material value in which you would benefit from keeping an up-to-date record of their details, values, dates, etc.

Typically, they can be for things like:

  • Equipment: e.g., Boilers, to track service histories, installation dates, usage, etc.

  • Vehicles: to track MOT dates, service histories, and record information against.

  • Plant & Machinery: to track service records, costs, dates, and documents.

  • IT equipment: such as type of asset, operating system, user, location, etc.


📒 How To Add An Asset

To add an asset to FaultFixers, follow these steps:

  1. Login to FaultFixers Dashboard: Access your FaultFixers account dashboard using your credentials.

  2. Click Assets: Navigate to the Assets section within the dashboard.

  3. Click Add Assets: Select the option to add a new asset.

  4. Choose from the Drop-down Box: Specify the type of relationship the asset has by choosing "This asset is related to" and select from options like Building, Location, or Another Asset (as a sub-asset).

  5. Fill out Asset Details: Provide the Asset Name and Status.

  6. Select Building, Location, or Asset: Choose the building, location, or asset to which it's assigned.

  7. After you've added the asset you'll be able to add in more details, as well as custom fields, to ensure you're keep track of everything you need to.


✅ How to Keep an Asset Register Consistently Accurate

When creating an asset register, export all high-value assets from your accounting or asset management software. Conduct physical audits of assets, comparing them with your system's list. Keep the register updated and consider tagging assets for real-time tracking.
